Older builder-grade windows on a fairway lot often need a full refresh. Exterior solar screens on the west side plus cellular shades on bedrooms handle the whole house.
Tucson sees roughly 350 sunny days a year, and Oro Valley's elevation and orientation toward the Catalinas put a lot of that sun directly on your west and south-facing glass. Exterior solar screens typically cut cooling load in those rooms by roughly 30 to 40 percent, since the heat is stopped at the screen instead of the pane. Cellular shades work from the inside, trapping air at the glass and meaningfully slowing heat transfer through the window.
